I’d like to take a moment to compliment Mr. Daniel Hallock on another outstanding weight watchers healthy life-style cookbook, The Guilt-Free Gourmet: Asian Cuisine. Asian cuisine is my very favorite—most likely my go-out cuisine of choice, and Thai specifically. So when I saw Daniel had published an Asian weight watchers healthy life-style cookbook, I thought, “Yes!” Thanks, Daniel Hallock, for being a genius. Thanks to your family for putting up with you because you’ve done something fantastic here.
Free Download and Purchase Options
Here’s the good news—you can obtain weight watchers healthy life-style cookbook for free from his website. Yep—free! If you prefer a paperback copy like me, you can also buy it on Amazon. I love having a weight watchers healthy life-style cookbook in my hand and browsing the pages at my own leisure. You can’t have too many cookbooks, right?
Focus on Healthy Eating
Here are low-calorie and low-fat weight loss and weight maintenance recipes in this weight watchers healthy life-style cookbook. Daniel highlighted his top four favorites from the book: Thai Basil Chicken, Mongolian Chicken, Drunken Noodles (possibly the first dish I’ll attempt because it sounds amazing), Thai Sweet Chili Shrimp, and Hot and Sour Soup. I had hot and sour soup the other day and it is a favorite of mine. These are guilt-free Asian dishes where you can have the flavors you want and feel no guilt.
First Impressions of the Cookbook
I haven’t fully explored the book yet because I wanted to give you my genuine first impressions. But I already know it’s going to be amazing because everything Daniel makes is top-notch. He even updated it to align with the plan we’re on for point values. The book includes all the details—where to find him online (Connect, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube), and there’s even a cute picture of him with his son. Adorable!

Ingredient Substitutions and Cooking Tips
For example, powdered peanut butter works surprisingly well in Asian cuisine—it blends beautifully. He even covers gadgets like scales, mesh strainers, and steamer baskets, plus substitutions for wonton wrappers and Asian noodles. QR codes make it easy to find exactly what you need. And let’s not forget about wonton strips—because who doesn’t love them with some spicy mustard and duck sauce?
Condiments and Dips Section
The condiments and dips section is fantastic, with recipes for Cambodian pepper lime dip, hoisin sauce, katsu sauce, orange ginger glaze, and more. I’ve had trouble finding G Hughes’ orange glaze, so now I can make my own!
Let’s take a look at the orange ginger glaze recipe—it’s made with orange juice, water, cornstarch, reduced sodium soy sauce, dark soy sauce, zero-calorie sugar replacement, garlic, ginger, orange zest, chili garlic sauce, and sugar-free pancake syrup. Perfect for a low-calorie, low-point dipping sauce since so many hidden calories come from sauces.
Dim Sum and Soups Section
The dim sum and soups section includes shumai, spring rolls, sweet and sour meatballs, and Vietnamese meatballs. Egg drop soup, hot and sour soup, and wonton soup are all there too. The hot and sour soup looks incredible—just as good as any restaurant version I’ve had.
Main Dishes Section
Now onto the main dishes! There’s Adobo chicken, banh mi chicken sandwich, stir-fried Beijing chicken, bibimbap, bulgogi, and so much more. I can’t believe General’s Chicken is in here—it looks just like the real thing! And Pad Thai for four points? Yes, please! I’m seriously in love with this book.
